Zu Laupen gehört der Landgasthof «Bären». Er wird in den Laupener Urkunden 1704 erstmals erwähnt. Seit über hundert Jahren befindet sich der «Bären» im Besitz der Familie Schmid. Bekannt ist der «Bären» für seine ländliche Gastlichkeit mit einer gepflegten Spezialitätenküche und auserlesenen Saisongerichten.

Laupen's excellent state of preservation makes the town and its surroundings an ideal area for excursions. It can be reached in half an hour from either Berne, Fribourg or Murten.
The Bear Hotel is an important landmark in Laupen. It was first mentioned in the annals of the town in 1704, and for more than a century it has been in the possession of the Schmid family.
